Twelve women were on Sunday 12, 2007 dedicated as full members of the Catholic Women Association, Cameroon (CWAC) on, The dedication Eucharistic service was presided by Rev. Fr. Roland Berngeh former Vicar General of the Diocese of Kumbo, and presently Principal of Saint Augustine College Nso. The 12 women successfully went through a one year course to work for their membership into the group, finally pledged before God in a solemn Holy mass said at the Kumbo Cathedral church.
During the Eucharistic celebration, the women promised total readiness to care, love and protect their families as good Christian wives and mothers, after the example of Mary of the Holy family of Nazareth. They also promised to devote time, energy and talents to the group as a service to the Church without expecting anything in return.
They are expected to be true Christians witnesses, who would always live, uphold, defend and spread the Good News and teachings of the Catholic Church. Furthermore dedicated members of the CWA are suppose to configure their life styles after that of Mary our Queen and Mother and be true ambassadors of the CWA through their daily lives. To follow a true Christian life of service and the motto of the association which is “To serve and not to be served”, being ready to lay down their lives to whatever the group may call them to do.
The successful dedication of the 12 additional members into the CWA to strengthen the growth of the group brought untold euphoria among its members who patronized the offertory procession at the mass, dancing in glory and thanksgiving to God to offer their gifts. In a festive mood after the mass, the CWA members expressed joy of increment in their membership by 12 as they joined the newly dedicated members in merry making while showing interest for more members to join. “Dedicating 12 members at a time into the CWA today is a very significant move.
We are happy for them and we expect more and more members to join”, Madam Pascaline said. Beside expressing joy for having been dedicated Madam Vershiyi Henrieta Nyuykighan on behalf of the newly dedicated CWA members said the number 12 is very significant in the Bible. She alluded to the 12 sons of Ishmael which stood for the foundation of the present Arab world, the 12 sons of Jacob, the 12 tribes of Israel (foundation of the Jewish nation), the 12 Minor prophets (people who spoke on behalf of God), the 12 Apostles (foundation of the church), the 12 fruits of the Holy Spirit and a woman with 12 stars for a crown on her head.
